Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is a tree native to Mexico that also grows throughout much of South America. The name literally translates as 'Holy Wood' and it is sometimes referred to as the Tree of Life. Palo santo has traditionally been used by numerous Central and South American cultures both medicinally and spiritually, and it has recently become popular thoughout the world, having a reputation for being one of best smudging products available anywhere. It can be burned in a similar way to white sage to clear negative energies and to cleanse people, objects and spaces. But unlike white sage, which clears all energies, palo santo clears only negative energies, allowing positive energies to remain. It is also said to promote health and well-being and to have protective qualities. Palo santo is excellent for prayer, meditation and relaxation. Its gentle but powerful cleansing properties can be used to restore tranquility to the body and to calm the mind.

Palo santo has a pleasant, sweet woody aroma. Palo santo powder can be burned on charcoal tablets (sold separately). You can enjoy it on its own or you can create your own personalised powerful cleansing or ritual mix by combining it with other woods, herbs and resins.
