Carnelian is also known as Red Agate. What you see is what you get. The heart shown in the photo is the actual heart you will receive.

Overall this heart is smooth and well polished, but it does have a few minor surface imperfections. The side not shown in the photo has some mottled patterning. There are some classic agate banding patterns on this heart, mostly on the sides. If you hold this heart up to bright light it is translucent. Carnelian's appearance can vary greatly depending on the light it is viewed under. In bright sunlight this piece appears to be a fiery reddish-orange, almost glowing. Under artificial light or cloudy daylight it appears much duller. The photo was taken under a daylight fluorescent tube, so when you see it in real life it might appear either brighter/warmer or duller/cooler that how it looks here.
